Douglasdale and Douglas Glen

First established in mid 1980s, Douglasdale is situated in Calgary's Southeast quadrant. It is bound by the Bow River tp the West, Deerfoot Trail to the East, Quarry Park to the North and McKenzie Lake to the South. Douglasdale was developed along a gentle slope that provides picturesque views of the Rocky Mountains. The community was built around a private golf course and offers plenty of green space. The parks and pathways of the Bow River are also close by. Construction of homes in Douglasdale began in 1986 with the last homes in Douglas Glen being completed in 2001. 

The community can be divided in to three distinct areas: Douglasdale, Douglasdale Estates, and Douglas Glen. A variety of homes can be found in the community ranging from smaller single family homes in Douglas Glen to estate style homes backing onto the golf course or ridge homes offering a fantastic view of the mountains and city. Most plans are two storeys, two storey splits, or bungalows. 


Douglasdale also has a selection of attached and semi detached villa bungalows offering a carefree lifestyle of condominium along with the feel of a house. Douglas glen boasts a town house complex consisting of semi detached two storey units, many with walk out lower levels. 


Quarry Park

First established after Douglasdale was completed beginning in 2009, Quarry Park lies just North of Douglas Glen, South of Riverbend, East of the Bow River, and West of 24 Street SE. It was first developed by Remington Construction and successfully combines a variety of home styles with an eclectic commercial district. Having a more urban feel, Quarry Park is close to the pathways of the Bow River. Single family homes, townhouses, and luxury apartment condominiums can be found in Quarry Park. The Remington YMCA is located in Quarry Park.

Schools

Parents wishing to enroll their elementary aged children in public schooling will be able have them close, for they will attend Douglasdale School for kindergarten through to grade 4. From there, they will have a very short car/bus ride to Mountain Park School in neighbouring McKenzie Lake for grades 5 to 9. Lord Beaverbrook High School is the designated secondary institution for Douglasdale.

Students attending Catholic schooling start within the community at Monsignour Smith school for grades up to and including grade 9. Catholic high school students attend Bishop Grandin High School

Community

The Douglasdale-Quarry Park Community Association is a volunteer driven entity that supports activities that promote the well being of the neighbourhood. Things such as the TimBits soccer program, a community garden, and enhanced landscaping are the current initiatives supported by the association. 

Shopping

There is shopping within the community as well as close to the community. Everything from large, box stores as well as unique local shops can be found either within the community or a short drive away.
